In total 37 cars of various types and ages , the oldest being a\u00a01927 Alvis 1250 Sports Saloon belonging\u00a0 to John Morgan who had driven the car 166 miles from the village of Balmeddie , just north of Aberdeen.<\/h2>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\">After spending more than an hour to allow the locals to admire and put their questions to the drivers, we set off on our run around the Peninsula to be greeted by many locals waving from their gardens and vantage points.<\/h2>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\">On arrival at the Caravan Park, the run participants put their cars on display and enjoyed a light lunch in the sunshine that had\u00a0 made an appearance for us.<\/h2>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\">Again, the Caravan park residents and holidaymakers mingled among and admired the cars for a couple of hours before we all left for home. The organising sub committee after last year\u2019s tour thought that by having the start nearer Glasgow (last years was at Dobbie\u2019s, Stirling with 23 entrants) may encourage more participants, however despite this change, car numbers dropped to 16 with a couple more meeting at Fintry and Strathblane.<\/p>\n<p>We were lucky with the weather being a bit overcast in the morning, but the sun did come out and fortuitously for the stalwart open cars remained dry all day.<\/p>\n<p>Cars during the day ranged from 4 Alvis, 3 Austins, 3 MG\u2019s, 1 Riley, 1 Jaguar, 1 Landrover, 1 Aston Martin, Singer and a Humber.<br \/>\nFinishing at the Kirkhouse saw the collection of the very sought after observation quiz sheets and self judging forms. While the organising team were taking part in the event, their cars were ineligible to win anything of course, although the voting did put a couple ahead of others, but they were discounted.<br \/>\nFor the pre-war cars, winner was Ruairidh<br \/>\nDunford with the 1929 Austin 7 GE tourer.<\/p>\n<p>1945 to 1960 category went to Kevin Begen in the 1954 Austin<br \/>\nHealey 100 \/4<\/p>\n<p>1961 to 1993 was won by George McDougall in the Jaguar E Type<\/p>\n<p>Annick Waugh\u2019s A7 &#8211; Winner of observation quiz.<\/p>\n<p>For the observation quiz we had a tie situation with Donald Shedden and Annick Waugh both scoring 7 points (out of possible 9) so the tie break question was put into action.<br \/>\nAs 2024 is a 60 year anniversary of 1964 question was \u201cwhat was the retail price of the 1964 Sunbeam Alpine sports tourer &#8211; including purchase tax?<br \/>\nThe answer is \u00a3852-8-9d . Everyone is welcome including anyone who has already visited and would like a second viewing.
