Pre-Kirkhouse meeting run for 15th September 2026.
Colin has prepared the route.
Our last 2026 pre Kirkhouse run is being proposed for Tuesday 15th September 2026. The proposal is to meet at the GRID Braehead car park (formerly Xscape) next to the “Lord of the Isles” pub. (what three words ///trio.builds.formed) . We leave at 10am. The suggested route is to head past Inchinnan and then to follow the road to Houston, circle north, past Formakin Estate to Bishopton and then meet up again at Erskine Veterans Village main car park (Harry’s Cafe). Afterwards, over the Erskine bridge, through Hardgate towards Bearsden. Left at the Langfaulds roundabout and left at the Baljaffray roundabout on to the Drymen (Stockiemuir) road. Then right at Carbeth to Strathblane and the Kirkhouse. The route is about 29 miles. If you fancy it, just turn up at Braehead or join in along the route.

Saturdays visit to member Melvyn Thomas superb collection of fairground memorabilia spanning four generations. In his collection he has, fairground rides, hand built rides, neon lights, spectacular artwork. Not forgetting his classic car collection!
Tea, coffee, home made cake and biscuits plentiful freely available for the entire day. Thank you to Jack, Danielle & Rebecca for their warm hospitality. On sale were raffle tickets on sale for splendid prizes prepared and all donated by Rhonda with her cousin Cindy also contributing towards the raffle prizes. £5 entry with all proceeds going to Alzheimer Scotland and Marie Curie Hospice Glasgow.

Annual autojumble:
Just over 4 weeks to go!!
This takes place on Saturday 3rd October at St. Cyprian’s church hall, Beech Road Lenzie G66 4HN. The hall will be open at 9.00 to allow sellers to set up with the event opening at 10.00 for buyers.
If you have not previously sold items at this event why not have a rummage round the garage? Something of no further use to you might just be what someone has been searching for.
Note: There is no charge for a table. Tables must be booked in advance and, as there is usually a big demand, it would be advisable to book early.
Teas, coffee and bacon rolls available to buy kindly served by the St Cyprian ladies.

Club BBQ at Mugdock Country Park.
Everyone had their fill of sausages, burgers, chicken and other savouries from the table.
Soft drinks, tea and coffee plentiful.
Great conversations had by one and all. The weather held for a good part then the inevitable happened!! It started raining. We sheltered together under a small roof covering the BBQ area .
Everyone left and I hope all truly well fed and watered too.

An early start 10am for today’s small summer outing to the Kirkhouse Inn for our usual monthly meeting.

Colin & Pam Blair spotted this drawing in a gallery window when attendeding last year’s event. I popped into the gallery and, she still had it. Elizabeth paints, draws & photographs many island events. If you’ve ever attended a Millport event, she may just have you framed! Pop in an see, she has them all sizes and prints too. A good day at the Milngavie Classic Car Show. The weather was kind and visitor turnout exceptional. For each car and driver a £7.50 voucher towards food at the many outlets around the precinct. Everyone had a great time with a mention to the staff of AJ Carpets in Station Rd.

Great day out at The Kirkhouse Inn Strathblane. Wonderful selection of classic and vintage cars. Alex McDougall’s Model T which was 116 years old today! Watch out for it in the following videos.

Retirement Announcement
John Young who was Club Membership Secretary from 2009, stepped down in June 2025.
This was a “job” he volunteered to do thinking it would be only a background task! Boy…was he wrong ? Move forward 15 years. For Sandra, John was her ‘go to man’ and a key pillar to the Committee who had the answers relating to all things secretarial that assisted Sandra in her duties when she took up as Club Secretary in 2019.
Sandra’s skills were not in admin but in Nursing. John’s help has been invaluable and greatly appreciated.
We all wish him well for the future.
