Melvyn has fairground rides and memorabilia passed down to him from 4 generations. These include showman’s rides and historic showman memorabilia that enables a look back into the past.

Photos from Saturdays fabulous day as we heading from Kidston Car Park in Helensburgh to drive around the Peninsula to Rosneath Caravan Park where we had a light… lunch free to members.

The August pre Kirkhouse run to Croy, stopping for coffee at the marina, then onward for our meeting.

Rosneath run:
This takes place on Saturday 22nd August and will follow the usual format:
Meet at Kidston Car Park, Helensburgh at 10.00 where we will drive round the Rosneath Peninsula where we stop at the Rosneath Castle Caravan Park for a buffet lunch that will be provided by the Club free of charge to members. (Colin will distribute tickets for this at Kidston car park.) The management of the Caravan Park will provide a separate, chargeable, lunch for non members.
The Committee has decided to make a small charity collection while at the Caravan Park with the Club augmenting the sum collected by 100% subject to a cap of £100.00.
At the time of writing there has been no decision what charity will be the recipient but it will be a small, local charity.
There will be no “bucket rattling”. The collection tin will be placed on a table leaving it entirely up to individuals to contribute or not as they see fit.
We hope this small gesture will provide some positive publicity for the Club.

Mugdock Park

Club BBQ at Mugdock Country Park.
Everyone had their fill of sausages, burgers, chicken and other savouries from the table.
Soft drinks, tea and coffee plentiful.
Great conversations had by one and all. The weather held for a good part then the inevitable happened!! It started raining. We sheltered together under a small roof covering the BBQ area .
Everyone left and I hope all truly well fed and watered too.

An early start 10am for today’s small summer outing to the Kirkhouse Inn for our usual monthly meeting.
Starting from Drymen Car Park towards Balfron passing the only one natural body of water in Scotland officially named a “lake”: the Lake of Menteith in the Carse of Stirling,

Elizabeth paints, draws & photographs many island events. If you’ve ever attended a Millport event, she may just have you framed! Pop in an see, she has them all sizes and prints too. A good day at the Milngavie Classic Car Show. The weather was kind and visitor turnout exceptional. For each car and driver a £7.50 voucher towards food at the many outlets around the precinct. Everyone had a great time with a mention to the staff of AJ Carpets in Station Rd.

Great day out at The Kirkhouse Inn Strathblane. Wonderful selection of classic and vintage cars. Alex McDougall’s Model T which was 116 years old today! Watch out for it in the following videos.

Retirement Announcement
John Young who was Club Membership Secretary from 2009, stepped down in June 2025.
This was a “job” he volunteered to do thinking it would be only a background task! Boy…was he wrong ? Move forward 15 years. For Sandra, John was her ‘go to man’ and a key pillar to the Committee who had the answers relating to all things secretarial that assisted Sandra in her duties when she took up as Club Secretary in 2019.
Sandra’s skills were not in admin but in Nursing. John’s help has been invaluable and greatly appreciated.
We all wish him well for the future.
