Monthly Meetings:
These presently take place on the 3rd Tuesday of
the month at the Kirkhouse Inn at 12.00.
Next meeting: Tuesday 15th September.
In the course of the run prior to our last Kirkhouse meeting we stopped at Auchinstarry Marina on the Forth & Clyde Canal near Kilsyth.
There is a small hotel and we were made very welcome by the manager who offered to provide a private dining room if we had a Club outing there. It is an attractive venue and we are considering an outing, possibly over the winter months. Nothing has been arranged yet and I will keep you aware of developments.
Note: In view of the success of the two “Pre-Kirkhouse runs” we have decided to have one more before the season ends.
Thanks to Colin Blair for preparing the following route.
Our last 2026 pre Kirkhouse run is being proposed for Tuesday 15th September 2026. The proposal is to meet at the GRID Braehead car park (formerly Xscape) next to the “Lord of the Isles” pub. (what three words ///trio.builds.formed) . We leave at 10am. The suggested route is to head past Inchinnan and then to follow the road to Houston, circle north, past Formakin Estate to Bishopton and then meet up again at Erskine Veterans Village main car park (Harry’s Cafe). Afterwards, over the Erskine bridge, through Hardgate towards Bearsden. Left at the Langfaulds roundabout and left at the Baljaffray roundabout on to the Drymen (Stockiemuir) road. Then right at Carbeth to Strathblane and the Kirkhouse. The route is about 29 miles. If you fancy it, just turn up at Braehead or join in along
I would like to give a warm welcome to new members who have joined in the previous month.
Ian and Margaret Shaw have a 1951 MG TD.
Ian Walker: has a 1966 Triumph TR4A
William Aitken: has a Triumph TR6 as well as a few projects.
Andrew & Allan De Woronin: Father and son each with very attractive Austin 7s.
Welcome to the club folks and we look forward to meeting you at our events.
Membership:
This now stands at 50 single and 33 joint members.
Rosneath Rally:
On the subject of the Rosneath Rally, it was very successful with a significantly higher entry this year.
The weather did not look promising at first but it cleared up into a fine afternoon.
There was a great variety of cars including an ex army Ferret Scout Car which attracted a great deal of attention.
Thanks to Sarah and Siobhan of the Caravan Park for their wholehearted involvement in making this event a success.
Sandra has posted pictures on Facebook and the Club Website.
From John Hyman (Scottish Vintage Vehicle Federation)
We have received this request for a volunteer to act as Area Representative for SVVF.
” Dear Club Secretaries,
I write to ask if you would like to nominate any of your members to serve on the SVVF Committee .
Due to the very sudden passing of Ian Headrick, our Central Scotland Area Rep., we are seeking nominations .
The Area Rep is merely a contact for the Clubs in the given area and assists in the promotion of the SVVF YearBook .
Please let us know if you have any members that would be interested in assisting” .
Annual Autojumble:
This takes place on Saturday 3rd October at the usual venue, St Cyprian’s Church hall, Beech Road Lenzie G66 4HN.
The event starts at 10.00 but the hall will be available to stall holders from 09.00 to set up.
The church ladies will be on hand to provide hot drinks and rolls.
There are still some tables available. There is no charge for this and non-members are welcome as well.
This is a good opportunity to clear out your workshop, make a little money and possibly help a member find a scarce spare part.
Why not have a rummage and see what you can dispose of?
On that subject, I have a full run of the Automobile magazine from the first issue until 2023 (Volume 41 Issue 4) Most are in mint or near mint condition.
It takes up a lot of room and I have decided I must dispose of it but it would be a shame to dump it. I am not looking for anything for it, are there any takers?
Government Consultation Document on vehicle emissions regulations.
I am grateful to George Dow for this.
Quite radical changes in emission regulations proposed but will only apply to vehicles registered after 2001
That’s all folks,
Hope to see you at the Kirkhouse on the 15th.

Editor
